What’s the general concencus on Halo Wars?

I saw the IGN review and it says the game is good and has earned a rating of 8.8, which speaks volumes about it. However, part of the rating is based off the fact that Halo Wars follows the Halo saga. That is, they’ve rated it very highly just because it appeases Halo fanboys.

The way I judge a game is exclusively through multiplayer and game longevity. The reviews all leave out info about multiplayer so I can’t really tell for myself wether or not its worth buying.
